Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association Formed: President Jabbar, Senior Vice President Shamim
A new organization has been established by the owners of Bangladesh's semiconductor or microchip industry, named the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA). M. A. Jabbar, Managing Director (MD) of Neural Semiconductor Ltd. and DBL Group, has been elected as the first president of the association. M. E. Chowdhury Shamim, MD of Mars Solution Ltd., has been chosen as the Senior Vice President.
The nine-member executive committee for the 2024-2027 term was formed through an election. Teton Private Ltd.'s CEO, Mizanur Mohammad Rahman, has been elected as Vice President (Administration), while Mozahhedul Haque Abul Hasanat, Chief Technical Officer of Dynamic Solution Innovators, has been elected as Vice President (Finance).
The remaining five members of the committee are directors. They include Alia Shafqat, MD and CEO of Tahoe Private Ltd.; Mohammad Alam, MD of Metro Scientific; Munir Ahmed, Director of iTest Bangladesh Ltd.; Kamrul Ahsan Dewanji, MD of Baloo Technologies Ltd.; and Ashiqur Rahman Tanim, CEO of Think Global Ltd.
Newly elected president M. A. Jabbar stated that the organization will align domestic entrepreneurs with the progress of Bangladesh's growing semiconductor industry and global technological trends. He added that BSIA aims to foster innovation, growth, and collaboration in the semiconductor sector, enabling Bangladesh to secure a competitive position in the global market.
According to a press release from BSIA, the semiconductor or microchip production sector is emerging as a rapidly growing industry in the global electronics and technology space. The global semiconductor market is currently valued at approximately $630 billion and is projected to reach $1.3 trillion by 2030.
Currently, Bangladesh earns $9.9 million from semiconductor design and other auxiliary businesses. By 2030, this revenue is expected to rise to $1 billion, while creating employment opportunities for 10,000 people in the sector.
